Our Hearts BURNED
As we continue to celebrate and remember Resurrection Sunday, many churches have been reflecting on the moments that followed Jesus' defeat of death — moments that changed the world forever.
Some remember Jesus having breakfast with His disciples on the beach. Others remember His appearance to Thomas, showing His scars. But this year, the story that captured my heart is the road to Emmaus.
After His resurrection, Jesus walked with two followers who didn’t recognize Him at first. As they journeyed together, Jesus unfolded the Scriptures — from Moses through the prophets — explaining how everything pointed to Himself.
Later, when He broke bread with them, their eyes were opened. Jesus vanished, and they cried out:
"Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked to us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"
(Luke 24:32)
This story has stayed with me.
Over the past few months, I’ve spent every morning in the Scriptures. And again and again, my heart has burned.
Not just a feeling — a deep conviction. A stirring to live out what I’m reading.
From Moses speaking directly with God,
to Aaron standing in the gap to stop a plague,
to the prophets carrying heavy, holy assignments from the Lord —
I feel it.
A calling to do more than just know the Word.
A calling to live it.
Have you ever felt that stirring while reading the Bible?
Have you ever found yourself gripped by a verse — not just understanding it, but feeling it burn inside of you?
That’s the Spirit moving. That’s God inviting you to respond.
If you’re like me, your heart has burned many times over.
And that burning is meant to lead us into action.
A Prayer for You
My prayer today is simple:
That you would seek God's heart.
That you would hear His voice through His Word.
That you would feel your own heart burning — not just for knowledge, but for obedience.
We all share the same mission:
To glorify God and share the good news of Jesus with the world.
Where BDMC Fits In
Maybe BDMC will someday reach the nations.
But today, we are focused on our people — the people of Beaver Dam.
I believe a revival is coming here.
I see the need:
Unity among churches.
New opportunities for real service.
A fresh passion in our youth to radically follow Jesus.
If you're feeling that same stirring — if you’re wondering where to start — you're in the right place.
How You Can Be Part of It
Help hand out homeless kits.
Give financially to fuel this mission.
Volunteer your gifts and your heart.
Every dollar. Every prayer. Every act of love —
It all goes straight back into building up the broken and pointing people to Jesus.
If you’re excited about your faith, keep pushing forward.
If your heart is burning, don’t ignore it.
Let’s run after this together.
I can’t wait for the day when we gather —
to break bread,
to sing songs,
to study the Scriptures,
and to pray side by side.
Dear God, change my heart, use me and my skills for your kingdom, let me radically love the people around me. Open my eyes to a new opportunity, fill me with the holy spirit to be full of courage and boldness with my co-worker or family member, and take away any addiction in my life. Mold me, use me. We love you, lord Jesus. You are our King. I don’t always like what you ask, but I aim to always obey. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen (let it be so) and Amen (Halleluiah).
"Did not our hearts burn within us?"
-That fire is just getting started.
