Leaning on God
New Stories from the Field
2026 is here, and we continue to lean into God—seeking His guidance and trusting Him to bring the right people alongside us as we serve and love our community in a powerful way.
Already this year, we’ve heard from a young man whose life has been shaped by chaos from the very beginning. He grew up in homes where drug addiction roared through the halls. It’s all he has ever known, and it eventually led to his own addiction—to drugs and alcohol.
Today, this young man is homeless, right here in Beaver Dam.
But here’s the part that matters most: he is on fire to be sober.
He is desperately searching for a roommate who doesn’t do drugs—someone safe, steady, and different than what he’s always known.
While Don and I were filming the video you’ll see below, this young man called me. He told me he had bought alcohol and taken it back to the hotel we had helped place him in. Then he said something I won’t forget—he felt deep conviction, got rid of the alcohol, and opened the Bible we had given him.
Through tears, he told me he feels a new season coming.
That only happens when the gospel is shared.
That only happens when we are willing to evangelize.
That only happens when someone tells them about Jesus.
After we prayed with him and gave him a Bible, he told me this was the first Bible he had ever owned. Powerful stuff right there.
Please pray that someone in Beaver Dam will offer a spare room for this 21-year-old young man. We serve a God who is so big and so powerful—One who wants to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
Pray with me:
Jesus, You know his name.
Deliver him from addiction.
Remove the people and patterns that are pulling him down.
Lift the veil from his eyes.
Give him dreams and visions of You.
Surround him with believers who will love and encourage him.
Bring someone to the Mission Center who has a room and a willingness to walk with him through this journey.
You are our King. You hold the whole world in Your hands.
I can’t wait to share heaven with him—and with You.
Amen. Amen.
January Prayer Requests
Please pray for Owen, the son of our treasurer, Tonya, who has been very sick for several weeks and recently visited urgent care. Pray for healing and God’s peace over their family.
Pray for the young homeless man seeking sobriety, a new living situation, and a growing relationship with Jesus.
Pray for the other 40 individuals we served last year, with whom we remain in contact and continue to check in on, meet for lunch, and pray with.
Pray for this new year at the Beaver Dam Mission Center—that God would bring the right people to us, both those in need and those called to help meet the need.
Pray that the gospel is shared boldly in every situation God places before us.
Kingdom Work, Often Unseen
The Beaver Dam Mission Center is not about building a powerhouse ministry.
It is about doing Kingdom work—sometimes in public, and often in the shadows.
This year, through our blog, my hope is to share deeper stories:
of those we serve
of those who serve alongside us
and of people who deeply love God and quietly walk in obedience
With that, here is the Don Taylor story.
I met Don a couple of years ago when he and my wife were volunteering with Youth for Christ here in Beaver Dam. It doesn’t take long to notice that Don has a deep heart for God. His calm, quiet presence is marked by wisdom and love.
We asked Don to become one of our first board members because we need the wisdom of a Jesus follower who has lived through both highs and lows—someone who can help guide us when we begin to drift from our mission and vision.
And then there’s the music.
When Don sings… wow.
Hear his testimony.
Hear his heart.
And hear him sing below.
Final Thoughts
We love others because Christ first loved us and showed us, through his suffering on the cross and taking our sins, that he loves us.
Be bold and courageous today, not tomorrow!
Let us love with words and speech but in actions and in truth.
Love you all!
