August Update
Living Our Faith Out Loud
As the BDMC gets more established, we’re really starting to zoom in on what the needs are right here in our community. Scripture clearly calls us to take care of the poor, the needy, the homeless, the widows, the orphans, and fellow believers who are struggling. That’s not just a nice suggestion. It’s a command. And at BDMC, we’re taking that seriously.
We’re using Scripture not just as a guidebook, but as a launchpad. We want people to see what it looks like to actually live out the Word. To serve with joy, to love boldly, and to shine a light that points straight to Jesus. We’re not just called to do “good things"—the world does that. We’re called to be holy. Set apart. Different. And if God is living inside us, then what we bring to the table should look like Jesus in action.
"But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’" — 1 Peter 1:15–16 (NIV)
This isn’t just another social program. This is a lifestyle. WE are the Church.
Shoe Giveaway: A First Step
We’re days away from our biggest event yet—our Back-to-School Shoe Giveaway. Over 150 kids are signed up. Each one will leave with a brand-new pair of shoes, socks, a fun Bible, and most importantly, an encounter with people who love Jesus and love them. Volunteers will have a real opportunity to serve, listen, pray, and shine. We don’t know what God will do that day, but we know He’ll be there.
"And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward." — Matthew 10:42 (NIV)
What’s Next? Listening to the Spirit
And what’s next? We’re still praying through that. But Scripture gives us a great checklist—and we’re looking at what that could look like in Beaver Dam.
Maybe we help elderly folks who struggle with transportation. We’ve heard that’s a real need—maybe we offer free rides and taxi vouchers for a month. And while we’re at it, maybe we bring along a good study Bible and offer to pray with them.
Maybe we organize a "See You at the Pole"‑style prayer event at the high school.
Maybe we plan a big community meal where people can eat, hang out, hear the Word, and be reminded they’re not alone.
Maybe we connect with foster families or host a night for local teens who feel lost in the system.
Maybe we partner with the homeless shelter to go above and beyond in blessing people with more than just physical needs—bringing them hope, prayer, and the truth of God’s love.
The options are endless, which is why I keep asking God to lead the way.
"Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." — Matthew 25:40 (NIV)
Craving Unity in the Church
Being the Executive Director of a startup ministry while also working full-time, running a video business, and being a husband and dad to four amazing kids—it’s a full plate. But God keeps showing up. He’s been faithful to give me rest and keep my heart stirred.
Lately, that stirring has been about unity. I can’t stop thinking about how much the early church was urged to walk in unity. Paul brings it up again and again: crush division, be one body, focus on Jesus. But today, churches feel hesitant to link arms. Different denominations. Different priorities. And yet, we all claim the same Savior.
So maybe it’s time we take a bold step toward unity. What if this Christmas season, we planned a massive community-wide church service? One big celebration of Jesus’ birth—together. Different churches, one Savior. No showboating, no politics. Just worship, fellowship, and the gospel.
"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." — Ephesians 4:3 (NIV)
Reaching the Next Generation
Also, this fall, we feel led to start something new for young adults. There’s a huge gap for people 18–30. So many want to grow in their faith but don’t know where to go. Some have aged out of youth group but don’t feel ready for the next thing. Maybe we’re the ones who step in. A real Bible study. A hangout spot. A group to grow with. Who knows—maybe they’ll help shape the future of BDMC too.
"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity." — 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)
Call to Prayer and Action
Wherever you’re at in your walk with Jesus, I want to encourage you: pray. Get alone with God. Ask Him to break your heart for this city. For its people. For the lost, the lonely, the ones we usually miss.
Some people say street preaching doesn’t work. Some say you have to build long-term relationships before you share your faith. I say—why not both? Let’s cover every angle. Let’s go out in boldness and in love, with wisdom and fire. This isn’t about us. It’s about Him.
"Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction." — 2 Timothy 4:2 (NIV)
"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?" — Romans 10:14 (NIV)
God is on the move here in Beaver Dam. He’s drawing people in. He’s raising up servants. And we’re just getting started.
